Great And Precious Things Kindle Edition
How do you define yourself when others have already decided who you are?
Six years ago, when Camden Daniels came back from war without his younger brother, no one in the small town of Alba, Colorado, would forgive him—especially his father. He left, swearing never to return.
But a desperate message from his father brings it all back. The betrayal. The pain. And the need to go home again.
But home is where the one person he still loves is waiting. Willow. The one woman he can never have, because there are secrets buried in Alba that are best left in the dark...
Great and Precious Things is a heart-wrenching forbidden romance about family, betrayal, and ultimately how far we’re willing to go on behalf of those we love and who need us most.

Willow.
The one woman he can never have, because there are secrets buried in Alba that are best left in the dark.
If only he could tell his heart to stay locked away when she whispers she’s always loved him, and always will
I have been a huge fan of Rebecca Yarros since I picked up her first novel Full Measures in 2014 and with every new book I’m sure she couldn’t possibly outdo the last, and every time she does.
Great and Precious Things is a phenomenal, heart wrenchingly perfect novel about love, loss and family.
Great and Precious Things is such a beautiful novel and I loved the relationship between Camden and Willow and how naturally it seemed to progress, along with the intense and passionate chemistry between them.
Camden’s relationship with his father and his reason for returning to Alba was heart-wrenching and I loved how that unfolded throughout the novel with such natural pacing and emotional provoking way that made my heart break for Camden and his father.
Great And Precious Things was such a flawlessly impeccable novel that as soon as I finished it I wanted to immediately start it again so I could continue to bask in the world & characters Rebecca Yarros has created.
I enjoyed this book. It had a great storyline and interesting subplots. Cam was the true hero of this story and his commitment to his family and the love of his life, Willow, was commendable .

The characters (both their flaws and their assets) are so believable I feel like I have met them at the supermarket.
And OH, the plot twists! One crucial one (no spoilers but you will know it when you read it) I saw coming, but the rest were a complete shock!
One of my favorite parts is the totally unique and random settings she chooses. This one is set in modern time in a Colorado ghost town. Who would think of that?! 🥰
If you love a romance about soul mates that will wring your heart out but leave it intact (warning, not all RY leave it that way!!), this is a perfect choice.
One last thing--as of 2/9/24, the ending says there is an epilogue, but it isn't quite done yet (as told by her PA to the fan group), but hopefully we all have it soon! 😍🤩

I love the stories where they’ve known each other since they were little. Where they’ve secretly loved each other since they were little but then there is a passage of time taking them to a place in the future where the planets align and true love wins the day.
The journey you go on as a reader for them to get to that moment when the planets align is the one that makes my little heart sing.
Aside from the love story there’s the utterly sad story of Alzheimer’s disease. Rebecca Yarros dealt with that part of the story really well. The pain of realising that your relationship with your parent will never be the same again is awful. You can’t be the child anymore you have to become the adult.
There’s an inevitability in the storyline. An abandoned mine with a forgotten secret that’s waiting to be discovered.
Great read.

Much of the story was slow going and personally I found Camden’s personal struggles tedious at times, wondering when he will be able to move forward with his life and find the joy he wholeheartedly deserved. The small town that held grudges made Camden’s life difficult.
The highlight of this story for me, that made this book worth the read is the issue of Alzheimer’s for the inflicted individual as well as family dealing with the care. She compassionately addressed the rights or lack thereof for an Alzheimer’s individual to decide whether a DNR request could be honored. There are valid opposing opinions that make these wishes a difficult one. Ms. Yarros’ emphasis on “the freedom to choose” was SO beautifully addressed and profound.
Relationships with siblings, struggles to overcome a label, and the downside of small town life are all woven into this story. I love the passion in Ms. Yarros’ story telling. Always heartfelt and heart rendering. I won’t soon forget the underlying message of the story. Worth the read!
