Tim James' quest to find enough votes to overtake Robert Bentley in the GOP primary for governor has come up short.
With ballots across the state counted, Bentley led James by 270 votes. In the final tally, Bentley had 123,987 votes -- 29 votes more than were counted after the June 1 primary -- and James had 123,717 votes -- 75 votes fewer than were counted June 1.
Bentley has called a 5 p.m. press conference in Tuscaloosa to discuss the July 13 runoff with Bradley Byrne.
Meanwhile, the James campaign has sent out an e-mail saying he has left his Montgomery headquarters to begin a Father's Day weekend with his family.
James will hold a press conference Monday afternoon to discuss both the recount and whether he plans to continue with a challenge to the June 1 vote.
