Kirby Smart’s last words to Nick Saban before CFP title game

Nick Saban Kirby Smart pre-game Show

This is an opinion cartoon.

Disclaimer: This is a cartoon, y’all. And a prediction. NOT bulletin board material. NOT RAT POISON.

Welcome to the Nick Saban and Kirby Smart pre-game show.

I have nothing but respect for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs. They are a force to be reckoned with. The Dawgs have killed it this year.

It’s only a matter of time until Coach Smart and the Dawgs emerge from the GOAT Nick Saban’s shadow and claim a national championship or two or three of their own. Will this be the year they break through?

From Alabama’s perspective, it’s tough to beat a great team twice in one season. Revenge is a huge motivational factor. Can this Will Anderson-fueled defense again bring the hammer down on the Georgia offense in the College Football Playoff title game? Oh, hell yeah.

Will the Crimson Tide offensive line repeat their best performance of the year and dominate Georgia’s angry front seven again? Tough task to duplicate perfection. We’ll see.

Will the Heisman winning ‘Gingerbread Man” Bryce Young run around and throw dimes downfield and infuriate and confuse the Dawgs like he did in the SEC championship game? Absolutely. The Gingerbread Man is Ice.

Will Old Man Saban continue to school his disciples when it matters most? Nothing but love for the disciples, but I ain’t betting against the Old Man.

Predictions:

Big game for Georgia tight end Brock Bowers. Number 19 keeps Georgia in this tight game with big play after big play.

Georgia defense chases the Gingerbread Man around, knocks him down a few times. He gets loose and makes them pay. More than a few times.

In a hotly contested game, the Bryce Man delivers. Knockout punch TD to Alabama tight end Jahleel Billingsley. Number 19. Billingsley cradles the ball in the end zone like a baby, spikes it and transitions into the Crimson Crane (Karate Kid pose) perfectly displaying his number 19, which now represents Alabama’s 19th national title.

Alabama. 24-19.

Nick Saban intercepts the Gatorade baptism cooler and chugs the whole thing. Amazing. Erupts with record-breaking national championship belch.

Men, women and children weep (some with joy, others not so much.) Somewhere in the distance, a little bulldog barks.

What’s your prediction?
