Liz Cheney ousted; ‘Big Lie’ GOP can’t handle the truth

The Truth

Burning Truth

This is an opinion cartoon.

“The further society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those who speak it.” - George Orwell

“Remaining silent and ignoring the lie emboldens the liar.” - Liz Cheney

Why did House Republicans oust Liz Cheney, one of their most conservative voices, from leadership? The ‘Big Lie’ Republican Party is burning truth at the stake for Trump’s sake.

Watch Liz Cheney’s speech on House floor

I’m hardly a Liz Cheney fan. Until January 6, 2021, she was a loyal Trump supporter. But on the dark day of the MAGA cult insurrection attempt, Cheney saw the light. To her credit - unlike many of her delusional GOP colleagues - she has remained free and sober of the orange Kool-aid. She is one of the rare present-day Republicans who has:

(A) Principles

(B) A spine

(C) A conscience

(D) Nothing that Trump can blackmail her with

And perhaps ...

(E) A campaign strategy if the Republican Party survives this orange abyss and sees the light in time to retrieve its soul from the devil.

Liz Cheney is not the issue. The GOP just can’t handle the truth.
