Jordan Peele's 2017 film 'Get Out' was a modern day horror movie, where the bodies of black people were stolen and their souls removed. For Afro-Jewish philosopher Lewis Gordon, it's an allegory for race, and what he calls the Fear of Black Consciousness — which is also the title of his latest book. It means we continually fail to deal with the legacy of our history, and address questions like the place for guilt.

Professor Lewis Gordon is the Department Head of Philosophy at the University of Connecticut in the US.
