The WVU swimming and diving teams moved into their new home at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park, a brand new, state-of-the-art facility, in the fall of 2019. Initial planning for the new complex began in the fall of 2015, when nine public entities, including West Virginia University, committed to collaborate in building a state-of-the-art aquatic and track complex at Mylan Park.
Recognizing the need for an Olympic-sized, 50-meter pool, the community and WVU worked together to make this possible. A $48 million facility, the Aquatic and Track Complex at Mylan Park is a community facility for all ages. It now serves as the home to WVU’s swimming and diving, cross country and track and field teams. Construction began on the complex in August 2017.
The aquatic facility is approximately 75,000 square-feet with a 50-meter competition pool and seating for 1,200 spectators. The aquatic center will include a diving pool and tower, a warming pool, therapeutic pool, a family water park, an outdoor sun deck, two wet classrooms, a cardio fitness room, training space, locker rooms and multipurpose rooms for meetings and special occasions.
