We need your help to ensure WashU is attracting new, strong candidates

Action needed: Recruiting in the current job market - We need your help!

Dear Colleagues,
With the difficulty in attracting strong candidates in the current job market, we are asking for your assistance to help us remove barriers to attracting new applicants for urgently needed positions.
  • Older job postings tend not to attract new candidates. Keeping them posted without an active search in progress may discourage candidates from applying and make it more difficult to attract new candidates for active searches.
  • Indeed.com is one of our top sources of candidates. All WashU jobs are automatically shared with Indeed.com every morning. However, Indeed.com stops displaying those jobs once they exceed 118 days. After that they are only visible with paid advertisement.

To mitigate the impact of these barriers, here is our ask at this time:

  • Run RPT6366 - WU - Manage Job Requisitions to identify job requisitions that are not currently active and reach out to the Primary Recruiter(s) or recruitmentservices@wustl.edu to close them (instructions below*).
  • If your job is still active, please reach out to your recruiter to un-post your job if you have a sufficient applicant pool (provided minimum time posting requirements have been met).
  • Use a single Evergreen Job Requisition when possible for multiple job openings with the same job profile. It makes your review of candidate applications easier and streamlines the process for applicants to increase the likelihood that they will apply.
*RPT6366: This report should be available on your Recruiting Dashboard or you can run it by typing RPT6366 into the Workday search bar. This report will show you open Job Requisitions and how old they are. You can run this report by hiring manager or for specific Supervisory Organizations and all subordinates. Please remember that we are only asking that the Job Requisition be closed and the Position can stay open. When you are ready to start up a search again, a new Job Requisition can be created.
The recruiting team will begin to evaluate staff Job Requisitions older than 120 days (posted on or before August 1, 2022) for possible closure. Please reach out to your Primary Recruiter regarding any extenuating circumstances such as jobs linked to external advertisements.
We greatly appreciate your partnership in supporting best practices for active job searches in this challenging job market. For questions and further assistance, please contact your Primary Recruiter(s) or recruitmentservices@wustl.edu
Sincerely,
WashU's Recruitment Team
