Adding AAPI Studies to School Curriculum: Forum & Info

Make Us Visible NJ is hosting a forum on adding AAPI studies to school curriculum. "Passing legislation mandating AAPI Curriculum in NJ public schools will demonstrate NJ’s commitment to prioritizing the protection of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders from racism and violence. And for the 144,500 AAPI K-12 students in New Jersey, inclusive curriculum would ensure that they see themselves accurately represented."

Here are other ways you can help:

  • Sign the letter supporting the inclusion of AAPI studies in NJ public school K-12 curriculum, which can be found at tinyurl.com/AAPIStudiesNJLetter
  • Urge your legislators to sign on to NJ Senate S4021 bill advocating for AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) inclusion in K-12 curriculum in NJ public schools. Here is a copy of the bill

Wednesday, August 4th, 8 pm

Speakers are Senator Vin Gopal, who introduced S4021 for AAPI Curriculum in NJ Public Schools, Kate Lee from The Asian American Education Project, Samip Mallick from SAADA (South Asian American Digital Archive), Julia Wang and Kathy Lu from Immigrant History Initiative and Dr. Monisha Bajaj, University of San Francisco Professor of International and Multicultural Education.
