Guidelines for Accessible Archives for People with Disabilities feedback form (2024)

Dear colleagues,

We are very excited to share the 2024 draft Guidelines for Accessible Archives for People With Disabilities with you and welcome your feedback! Please submit your suggestions and comments primarily within the comment-enabled Google Doc. If you would like to optionally fill out this form to share your feedback, we welcome it as well.

The Guidelines for Accessible Archives for People with Disabilities is a standard of the Society of American Archivists, last approved by Council in February 2019. A Word doc and PDF of the tracked changes between the two versions is in this Google drive.

Gathering community input on this draft is our final step before submitting the updated version to the SAA Standards Committee for review and Council for final approval.

The deadline for feedback is March 1, 2024. If you have any questions, please contact us at robert.dirig@artcenter.edu.

What areas are particularly helpful/well done?
What areas are missing, incomplete, or unsatisfactory? Please provide as much detail as possible to help us identify areas to improve.
Is the Zotero resources library helpful or would you prefer a different platform?
What other resources should we reference in the Guidelines or the Zotero Library (organization names, study titles, articles, etc)?
We are considering whether to move the content of the Guidelines to a format similar to the DACS website. The potential benefit of this platform is that it will allow for more dynamic interaction with the content, which otherwise would be embedded on the SAA website without much SEO optimization or ease of navigation. However, there are concerns about whether this platform is easy to use, both from a user and working group member perspective. What are your thoughts about moving forward with a platform?
