NGOs circumventing due procedures under scrutiny
June 02, 2020Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), that had circumvented due procedures while registering are under scrutiny by the National NGO Secretariat.
Director General of the National NGO Secretariat Raja Gunaratne told defence.lk that the ‘NGO Secretariat’ has initiated investigations into NGOs with questionable funding sources and projects.
He also said that inquiries are being conducted on some NGOs believed to have circumvented due procedures and formalities in the registration process.
The NGO Secretariat, which comes under the Defence Ministry, supervises and monitors the registrations and operations of NGOs in Sri Lanka.
