📢 Delft University of Technology Student Forum speakers alert! Let's welcome the speakers who will join Dunja Suttnig, Assoc CIPD and Victoria Cummings on the panel session "Next Gen Microelectronics: Lowering Barriers for Students". The panel aims to address a pivotal question: In the face of rapid evolution and scaling in the microelectronics industry, how is the educational system adapting to meet these new challenges? 🎓 Meet: - Prof. Said Hamdioui. Said is Chair Professor on Dependable and Emerging Computer Technologies, Head of the Computer Engineering Laboratory (CE-Lab) at TU Delft. He is also co-founder and CEO of Cognitive-IC, a start-up focusing on hardware dependability solutions. Prior to joining TUDelft, Said spent over seven years within industry including Intel Corporation Philips Semiconductors R&D and Philips/NXP. His research focuses on: emerging technologies and computing paradigms, and hardware dependability. Said owns two patents, has published or contributed to multiple books, and has co-authored over 250 conference and journal papers. - Prof. Bernd Deutschmann. Bernd received his M.Sc. degree and the Ph.D. degree in telecommunication engineering from the Technische Universität Graz in 1999 and 2002, respectively. After his studies, he worked in the semiconductor industry from 2000 to 2014 on improving the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of integrated circuits. In 2014, he returned to academia and moved to TUGraz/Austria as a full professor for "Electronics" and since then heads the Institute of Electronics. His research area is the design of electronic systems and integrated circuits with a special focus on their electromagnetic compatibility. As part of his research activities, he has filed several patents and authored and co-authored numerous papers and technical articles. - Douwe den Blanken. Douwe is a PhD student in the Cognitive Sensor Nodes and Systems group in TU Delft. Having completed a bachelor's in Aerospace Engineering and a master's in Embedded Systems, his academic journey has been quite diverse. During his master's program, he delved into custom machine learning accelerator hardware for edge applications and did his first tapeout. His current research interests include transformers and transformer acceleration, ASIC for ML design and on-device learning. - Louka Verstraete. Louka holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from TU Delft. She is currently in the Honours Programme of TU Delft, conducting her research undergraduate research project on Quantum Error Correction. Louka got involved in the European Chips Skills Academy after attending the 2023 ECS Summer School in Italy. She is ECSA’s first Student Ambassador and the mind behind this first edition of the Student Forum!
