Students for Life Action Standing by to Celebrate Signatures on Key Legislation in Arizona, Idaho, and Montana

“The Pro-Life Generation through Students for Life Action has employed a 50-state strategy for activism during this legislative session,” said SFLAction’s Kristan Hawkins. “All of us will be better protected when preborn lives are protected in law because if you can kill people you don’t value, everyone is at risk.”

WASHINGTON D.C. (04-23-2021) – Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins praised pro-life legislators in Arizona, Idaho, and Montana who have worked to present life-affirming bill to their respective governors for signature. “As is widely reported, real strides are being made to protect life in law, requiring a lot of people to work together to protect preborn babies and their mothers,” said Hawkins. “We are standing by to celebrate some key legislation now on governors’ desks.”

In Idaho, SFLAction worked for passage of the Fetal Heartbeat Child Protection Act now calling on Governor Brad Little to require that doctors check for a baby’s heartbeat before committing an abortion.

In Arizona, SFLAction was honored to join with Sen. Nancy Barto and her pro-life allies to fight for passage of SB 1457 to limit the on-line sale of Chemical Abortion Pills, which can be deadly to women as well as harm their health and future fertility as well as ending preborn life. The Pro-Life Generation calls on Republican Gov. Doug Ducey to sign the measure that will protect women and their preborn infants from reckless distribution of life-ending drugs.

In Montana, Students for Life Action team members testified on a number of bills still awaiting the signature of Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte, including: HB 136, Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act; HB 171, Abortion Inducing Drug Risk Protocol; HB 140, Informed Consent/Ultrasound, and HB 167, Born Alive Infant Protection Act.

When the bills passed in February, Hawkins praised the Montana State Senate Legislators for passing four, unique bills to protect mothers and their pre-born children. Included in those votes was HB 171, Abortion Inducing Drug Risk Protocol, which will prevent dangerous distribution of Chemical Abortion Pills on-line, an effort to prevent abusers from getting a hold of the pills to use against women without their knowledge and consent and that also prevents stripping away health and safety standards in place to protect women’s lives and future fertility.

“Too much of the debate over abortion allowed by mainstream media focuses on whether abortionists want to be bothered by laws that help women and the preborn. Their inconvenience is irrelevant. Women have died when taking Chemical Abortion Pills and abusers have slipped those drugs to women against their wishes. Preventing those horrors is worth the effort,” said Hawkins.
