The Student Credentials Affinity group brings together professionals, researchers, advocates, policymakers and educators interested in discussing the credential landscape in postsecondary education. This is an open-access special interest group targeted at individuals who want to contribute to the discussion of “meaningful credentials” for students with intellectual disabilities. October Topic: Components of a Program of Study for a college certificate aligned to the requirements of the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA)

A typical program of study for any college student contains the courses (including internships) required and the number of electives needed to complete their degree. For students with intellectual disability (ID) attending college, they should also have required courses, internships, and electives, as well as any required co-curricular activities, such as attending weekly tutoring, mentoring or coaching sessions, and club or campus engagement activities, needed to complete their certificate requirements. Think College's Technical Assistance Coordinator, Kathy Becht, will discuss why these components are important and share a collection of Programs of Study and example documents.
