Thank you for your interest in this professional learning series, Supporting Multilingual and Immigrant Students with Financial Aid, hosted by the Multilingual & Immigrant Student Support Team (MISST) at the Division of Multilingual Learners in collaboration with uAspire.
The series consists of 3 sessions, each held from 2pm - 3:30pm.
Session 1. Wednesday, March 9. NYS Dream Act Completion.
Participants will learn about eligibility requirements for the NYS Dream Act, which allows students, regardless of immigration status, to access New York state grants and scholarships to fund higher education. Participants will be able to facilitate completion of NYS Dream Act applications, including follow-up steps after submission.
Session 2. Tuesday, March 15. Student Aid Report Review and Verification.
Participants will be able to help students troubleshoot common student aid report notifications and explain the verification process in student-friendly ways that's accessible to all.
Session 3. Tuesday, March 29. Financial Aid Offer Review.
Participants will able to identify aid offer best practices, as well as common ways they can be confusing. Additionally, you will be able to accurately use a college cost calculator and identify possible responses to difficult scenarios.
