2021 National Standards Vetting Survey for Bilingual Education

National Standards Vetting Survey for Bilingual Education

PESB truly appreciates your participation in the vetting process of  2021 National Dual Language Education Teacher Preparation Standards (NDLETPS). The purpose of this survey is to gather feedback on the NDLETPS standards for the Professional Educator Standards Board regarding  their decisions around the adoption of national standards in various endorsement areas.  If the feedback from the survey on the new standards is positive or minimal, the Board will consider adopting them. On the other hand, if many stakeholders raise significant concerns, feedback may be compiled for the Board’s potential further review.

This survey consists of three parts, including:

  • Part I:

    • You will be asked to review the NDLETPS standards in terms of its quality and appropriateness as endorsement competencies for beginning teachers in Washington P-12 schools, according to the following the guiding principles:

      • The standards should be appropriate for beginning teachers.

      • The standards and their associated competencies represent essential knowledge and skills for effective teaching

      • The standards should provide not only appropriate understanding of content but the ability to convey it to all learners.

      • The standards support culturally responsive teaching.

      • The standards should be organized in a way that facilitates meaningful assessment of candidates’ knowledge and skills.

      • The language of the standards and their associated competencies is clear.

  • Part II: You will be asked about the consistency and compatibility between the NDLETPS standards and the other standards.

  • Part III: In this final section, you will provide your final comments to the Board based on the review in the previous sections. Please provide the detailed feedback about the strengths of and/or your concerns about  the NDLETPS standards.

  • Part IV: Please indicate your affiliated organizations and other demographic information in the last section.
