Does your child love art or have a creative flair?
If so, they might enjoy entering a piece in this year’s Reflections program, a National PTA art program. We enjoy celebrating all our artists at Sunny Hills, and for the past several years we have also had many entries advance beyond the Council or State level of the contest.
The 2022-23 Reflections Theme: "Show Your Voice!"
Sunny Hills Entry Deadline: October 17, 2022
With Reflections, students have the opportunity to use their creative talents and express themselves through their own original works. You might want to do some thinking with them about the theme before beginning their entry, asking, "What does this mean to you?" or "How do you show your voice at home, school, in our community, state, country, or world?" Have them focus their creativity on this year’s theme and please note the deadline.
Students may enter up to three pieces in any combination of the six art areas, which include Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts, Film/Video and Choreography/Dance. Only original pieces tailored to the theme "Show Your Voice!" will be accepted.
Students are placed into the following categories: Primary - KG to 2nd grade; Intermediate - 3rd to 5th grade.
The Art Lab portable will be open for students to work on their submissions after school 9/19 - 9/23, 3:30 - 5:00. Caregivers will need to accompany students and some basic supplies will be available to use. Please sign up here as availability will be on a first-come, first-served basis
Keep in mind that a large portion of the scoring is based on the artist's statement (found on the entry form) about how the piece relates to this year's theme. National PTA is seeking a theme for the 2023–24 Reflections program year. The student who submits the winning entry will receive $100 and their theme will be presented at the annual National PTA Convention in June 2022. Please review the past themes listed on the website. Repeat themes will not be considered. Use the form link in the Theme Search dropdown to submit theme ideas by Nov 1.
