“Planned Parenthood has deviously handpicked the majority of their facility locations to be near a demographic that is young, vulnerable, and often away from support systems: college students,” said Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins. “Planting themselves in what is almost a walking distance to campus, the abortion giant is directly targeting pregnant women on campus, maximizing their ill-gained profits through their proximity.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. (03-28-2023) – In seeking to protect pregnant and parenting students from the predatory abortion industry, Students for Life’s Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement has conducted research over the years on American college campuses and their ties to abortion vendors. As part of these efforts, the Institute has released astonishing findings from January 2023 after researching and calculating the distance between every Planned Parenthood facility and college campuses.  

Key Findings: 

• Nearly 90% of all Planned Parenthood facilities are located within 5 miles of a college campus.  

• This represents an 8.6% increase since SFLA’s findings approximately 10 years ago.  

• Even in states which prohibit abortion, 56 Planned Parenthood facilities are still within a 5-mile range of a college campus, marketing abortifacients, sex-altering and sterilizing “hormone therapy,” etc.  

Geographic proximity was determined by aggregating all facility addresses published on Planned Parenthood’s website and then cross-referencing these addresses with those of the 4,360 institutions of higher learning (i.e., “college campuses”) made available through the National Center for Education Statistics. For the purposes of this study, a “college campus” was defined as a “public or private 4-year or 2-year college or university,” and according to the prescribed definition, community colleges met the criteria of a “college campus,” as well. To be counted, the Planned Parenthood facilities had to be listed as “open” according to the facility website or Google Maps results. 

The goal of SFLA’s newest research was to expose the abortion industry’s twisted marketing plan and encourage the inclusion of life-affirming pregnancy resources on campus. Without a culture of life on campus, students — the majority being young, away from home, and without substantial financial resources — can feel unsupported and be susceptible to pressure to have an abortion. Studies show that 60% of post-abortive women report they were coerced into the decision.

Planned Parenthood’s stalking of college and university students is made possible in part by the generous – yet coerced – support of American taxpayers, now funding more of the nation number one abortion vendor operations than ever before. Read more HERE but for highlights, consider some of what they hid in their delayed release of their 2020-2021 report (ending June 30, 2021):   

• An astounding 383,460 lives were lost to abortions committed by Planned Parenthood in that time frame. That’s an increase of close to 30,000 from the previous report.   
• That averages to 1,050 infants lost daily  
• Making more than $1.7 BILLION, Planned Parenthood did well during COVID. (Up from $1.6 Billion in the 2019-2020)  
• Taxpayers lost more than ever. Planned Parenthood made $633.4 MILLION from taxpayers (Up from $618.1 million in 2019-2022)  
• In fact, 37 % of their income comes from Government Health Services Reimbursements & Grants – the largest single source of their income  
• Planned Parenthood’s new sex altering business was covered in what was called “Other Services” numbering 15,902 “services.”
