Students For Life Action Calls on Arkansas Legislators to Support SB 6 Urging the Reversal of Roe v. Wade & Protecting the Rights of Preborn Children

SB6, the Arkansas Unborn Child Protection Act, is a bold statement of the truth that children in the womb are fellow human beings deserving of the full protection of the law,” said SFLAction’s Jacinta Florence.

LITTLE ROCK, AR (02-10-2021) – Students for Life Action’s Jacinta Florence participated in a press conference in support of SB 6, the Arkansas Unborn Child Protection Act, which will ensure the legal protection of Arkansas children from the moment of fertilization when Roe v. Wade is reversed.

Florence, Missouri and Arkansas Regional Coordinator for Students for Life of America/SFLAction, made the following statement:

Thank you. I’m Jacinta Florence, the Missouri and Arkansas Regional Coordinator with Students for Life. Students for Life Action, which trains and mobilizes our generation of pro-life leaders to impact public policy and influence key elections in order to restrict & abolish abortion state by state.

“That is why we are thrilled to see the bold action the state of Arkansas is taking to rescue children from abortion and abolish abortion in the state completely through SB6, the Arkansas Unborn Child Protection Act.

“Classifying fellow humans as “other” and dehumanizing them are key steps in any genocide — and we see these unfold in the abortion genocide, which has ended the lives of one quarter of my generation.

“To excuse abortion, its proponents make the nonsensical claim that there is a difference between humans and human persons, and that only the latter category of humans deserves equal protection under the law. Conveniently for them, the child in the womb whom they seek to kill falls into the unprotected category.

“SB6, the Arkansas Unborn Child Protection Act, is a bold statement of the truth that children in the womb are fellow human beings deserving of the full protection of the law.

“Approximately 62 Million children in the United States alone have been killed in abortion since Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton were handed down by the Supreme Court 48 years ago in 1973.

“The so-called “right” to kill children in abortion teeters on this flimsy and immoral foundation, and it is long past time to overturn Roe once and for all.

“With the Supreme court having given permission for such a tragic loss of life, my generation has lost siblings, cousins, classmates, neighbors, partners and friends — when it decided that some were not worthy of protection before birth. It’s impossible to calculate the loss of so many missing.

“Given how many have been lost, I and everyone here born after 1973 is fortunate not to have become an abortion statistic.

“I’m compelled to stand here with you today in support of SB6, the Arkansas Unborn Child Protection Act, and to represent those millions of Americans who were not so fortunate. Those others who had no one to stand between them and the abortionists’ drugs and forceps and machines that snuffed out their lives before they could ever be held just one time in their mothers’ arms.

“In 2019, nearly three thousand Arkansas children were killed in violent abortions — 2,963, to be exact. To put that in context, that is one child killed Arkansas every three hours. We support SB6 for THEM.

“There’s no humane way to kill an innocent child, but the way children die in abortion is unthinkably barbaric. At the earliest stages of pregnancy, when babies already have beating hearts, abortionists kill them by starving them to death with the Chemical Abortion Pill or suctioning them to death in surgical aspiration abortions. A few weeks further into gestation, the abortionist uses forceps to dismember the child limb from limb before removing her torso and crushing her skull. Even later in pregnancy, children are killed by being injected with chemicals that cause a heart attack before they are dismembered or delivered intact up to full term.

“And make no mistake: members of the Millennial and Gen Z generations, like me, are NOT all-in for abortion. In fact, January polling commissioned by Students for Life found that support for reversing Roe and Doe DOUBLED after 18- to -34-year-old voters learned that the rulings legalized abortion through all nine months of pregnancy and for any reason.

“In fact, almost 7 out of 10 Millennials and Gen Z want to VOTE on abortion-related policy.  More than 7 out of 10 expressed support for limits on abortion. Your pro-life efforts will have broad support.

“Despite the inhumanity of abortion and its utter lack of unified support, the violence is legal in the United States because of one fatal day of Supreme Court rulings, handed down by seven men, that struck down protections for children in states like ours. Now it is our job, state by state, to rebuild those protections for preborn children.

“Arkansas is a beacon of hope to many states around the country seeking to restore the human rights of the preborn. The pro-life state of Arkansas has not only started, but worked tirelessly for years to restore those rights. It is my hope that Arkansas will one day soon be completely abortion-free.

“The Pro-Life Generation stands with you in this fight to protect children through the Arkansas Unborn Child Protection Act. Thank you.”
