Summer Reading

Dear Families,

Studies show that students who do not read over the summer lose valuable ELA skills gained during the previous school year. Reading improves reading and writing skills and builds vocabulary, and also can be lots of fun.

What is Summer Slide? Watch this video to find out: https://youtu.be/6leqMp8yF4s

The reading log sheet below can be printed and used at home to track reading. Students will be asked to submit the reading log (paper or electronically via Pupilpath or Email) in September to show evidence of reading over the summer, in order to get a surprise. Deadline: the last school day in September.

Recommended reading lists for each grade can be found by clicking on the buttons below this message.

***Sources for locating FREE e-books are below the recommended reading lists. Please scroll down and take a look!

Also, please consider taking part in Queens Library's Summer Reading program. For more information, follow this link: www.summerreading.org
