Honoring Dr. Thomas Ritenbaugh

We are honored to dedicate this year's district art show to Dr. Thomas Ritenbaugh. Dr. Ritenbaugh was an art educator in Council Rock for 37 years. He created the foundation for the art curriculum our Council Rock students still learn in schools today. In his time at Council Rock, Dr. Ritenbaugh was named State Art Teacher of the year, National Art Teacher of the Year, and was the president of the Pennsylvania Art Education Association. He was a creative force and a prolific artist throughout his life, working primarily with ceramics, metals, sculpture, and fibers. His most recent works involved transposing aspects of photographs onto canvas and adding both color and complex texture to the images with thread and other fibers. Please visit the display of work created by Dr. Ritenbaugh at this year's show. Our CR Artists are honored to follow the path he created for us all.
