Robert E. Collins Endowed Scholarships

This scholarship will be awarded for the FALL semester.

Scholarship Intent: Provide scholarships to students who are employed as student assistants in the J. Paul Leonard Library OR who volunteer for the Friends of the Library

Criteria:

  • Students must be employed as a student assistant or volunteer in the J. Paul Leonard Library during both Fall 2023 and Spring 2024, and remain enrolled at SF State for the following fall semester, when the awards will be disbursed.
    *Students must complete an application including their CV or resume, transcripts, and a letter of recommendation from their supervisor in the J. Paul Leonard Library.

In addition, applicants must include essays answering each of the following questions:

  1. How does your work as an employee (student assistant) in the J. Paul Leonard Library positively affect your academic progress and/or your connection to the campus?
  2. Identify a book that you have read that was not part of any class, and explain how it affected you.

Supplemental essays should be well-written, work-processed essays of not more than 250 words each. Please use 12-point. For more information about the criteria for evaluating applications, please see the FOL website at library.sfsu.edu/fol

Past recipients of the Collins Scholarships are not eligible to apply. However, students who applied before but did not receive the award are welcome to apply again.
