Screening - Impact of Diet and Gut Microbiome on Metabolism and Inflammation |
Study Purpose
The purpose of this study is to determine how certain food items may affect gut bacteria, molecules (metabolites) produced during chemical reactions in the body, inflammation, and the metabolic health of indiviuals with an increased circumference and non-fasting triglyceride (the main fat in your blood) levels in the blood.
Eligibility
You are eligible if you:
- are between the ages of 18-70 years old
- have a waist circumference greater than 35" (women) or 40" (men)
- are not taking cholesterol, lipid, or inflammation lowering medications
- are not pregnant or lactating
- do not have diabetes
- do not have gastrointestinal issues
- have not had antibiotics in the past 90 days
What to Expect
Completion of the study will take approximately 13 weeks, depending on scheduling of the visits. 12 weeks of the study are dedicated to a dietary intervention where we provide you with 7 prepared meals each week for you to eat around lunch time.
Total time spent in the Nutrition Research Laboratory is approximately 14 hours spread over 4 visits.
Scheduling
Our scheduling is done on an individual basis to accomodate individual availability. We can run longer visits on weekend days.

Information on your body composition, blood pressure, blood glucose, and blood lipids.
Compensation
You will be compensated up to $250.
