Ways Schools Can Support Routine Vaccination Catch-Up Among School-Aged Children

Overview

A Toolkit for Education Professionals

The Public Health Foundation (PHF), in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has developed this actionable toolkit for education professionals as part of a series of toolkits being developed for CDC's broader Let's RISE (Routine Immunizations on Schedule for Everyone) playbook.

Vaccination is crucial for the health and well-being of kids, families, schools, and communities. Routine vaccines and school vaccination requirements protect kids' health against vaccine-preventable diseases, keeping them in school and ready to learn. As trusted community leaders, education professionals are well positioned to play a leading role in ensuring children are up-to-date and in compliance with school vaccination requirements, as well as all Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended vaccines, not including those required for school entry.

This actionable toolkit is geared towards education professionals such as superintendents, school administrators, school nurses, and all school health staff. It contains evidence-based strategies, tools, and resources from professional education organizations and school health partners, state and local health departments, public health partners, and government organizations.
