AXR & The Debate Napa Valley Winemaker Dinner

Internationally recognized multiple 100pt Winemaker, Jean Hoefliger, previously at Château Lynch Bages before coming to the United States and launching Alpha Omega, will host this amazing winemaker dinner. This super fun evening will focus on his winemaking for two of the premier Napa Valley brands, AXR & The Debate.

The vineyard sites are a cross section of Napa Valley from the benchlands all the way up to some of the highest hillside vineyards. We will kick things off with a high scoring white and move our way through to the first red flight featuring three Cabernet Francs Head-to-Head. Which will be your favorite or the Group's, that is where The Debate will begin!

The Debate
One year, two varietals, three vineyards. Many perspectives. The debate celebrates the contrast of vintage, discovery of varietals, diversity of 'the dirt', the allure of the single vineyards from some of the top sites in Napa Valley, the art of conversation, the difference of viewpoints and most importantly the enjoyment of sharing them.

Here comes your debate: So close together, yet so far apart. The debate defines the notion of terroir as the interaction of a climate, soil, plant in a unique location and the local culture... utilizing the same winemaking techniques on each varietal and vineyard truly showcases the terroir and sense of time & place and how the wine impacts your individual palate.

AXR
The history of AXR Napa Valley is compounded in layers; rooted in historic tales of fierce Native American hunting grounds, wild west pioneers and the first woman vintner of California in 1886. Today, AXR is a winery that pays homage to its history and blazes a trail of innovation in Napa Valley as the pioneers before them. Named after the AxR1 rootstock (Aramond x Rupestris) that was so prominent in building the modern California wine industry, AxR1 eventually succumbed to phylloxera and most of California wine country was left in ruin. AXR chose to name itself after this rootstock due to its historical importance and the blank canvas that was created. AXR is Jean’s blank canvas to push himself into a new era of his winemaking, from some of the top vineyard sites in Napa Valley.

The dinner will feature a chardonnay, plus flights of Cabernet & Cabernet Franc from:
•    Sleeping Lady Vineyard, Yountville
•    Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard, Oakville
•    Stagecoach Vineyard, Prichard Hill
•    And that's just the beginning!

Maison Louis Latour Hosted Wine Dinner

Seldom does Arizona get the opportunity to feature a Burgundy winery to fly in and host such an epic dinner - so we jumped at the opportunity to bring Burgundy to you! If you are already a Burgundy lover (Pinot Noir and/or Chardonnay) then this is the dinner for you. If you have only dabbled with Pinot or Chard in the US or have felt uncomfortable wading-in due to the complexity and snobbery around Burgundy - then this is also the dinner for you. Where else will you be able to connect directly with the winery in a comfortable setting and talk one-on-one to answer your questions, learn a thing or two and sample outstanding expressions from their diverse vineyards and bottlings, including multiple Premier & Grand Cru wines? Not to mention the wines will be expertly paired through six gastronomic courses that will both delight and stimulate all of your senses! Yes, this is a rarity of events and we can barely contain our excitement. For those of you not as familiar with Burgundy, below is a quick overview of this historic and highly regarded producer.

Maison Louis Latour purchased their first vineyards back in 1731 and now own the largest collection of Grand Cru vineyards in all of Burgundy! They have practiced reasoned agriculture (certified ISO14001) for 20 years. Understanding and interpreting the geological complexity of each parcel is indispensable, and the reason they are always analyzing their diverse soils to better understand the interaction between the terroir and their wines.

Healthy soil is also primordial for the development of the vines, which is why Maison Louis Latour uses specific organic techniques to combat vine pests and diseases. By making its own compost (around 70 tons) from vine pruning wood and grape skins they are able to eliminate the use of chemical fertilizers.

For two centuries, over 100 appellations have been crafted with the greatest of care each year, to reveal all their complexity. The style is an auspicious combination of the richness of nature and the skill of labor. With the aim of offering full expression to the elegance and the balance of the great terroirs of Burgundy.

The red wines are refined, elegant and distinguished, extracting fruit and tannins in perfect balance - seeking to bring out the delicate qualities of Pinot Noir with all its subtle aromas.

The white wines are structured, rich and well-balanced, revealing their terroir through the power of the Chardonnay whilst retaining proper acidity to deliver freshness and aromatic complexity - balance is their unrelenting obsession.

Thier premier wines have an astonishing capacity for ageing, offering - to those with the patience to wait - the possibility of an extraordinary and compelling aromatic experience.

Château Léoville Poyferré Wine Dinner

Château Léoville Poyferré dates back to 1638 and was one of the first Châteaus to produce wine in the Medoc along with first Growths Château Margaux & Château Latour. They were at the forefront of modernization with a focus on higher quality from gape to finished wine in bottle. These investments have sky-rocked the quality juice firmly planting this St Julien producer as a premier QPR offering. Come join us to find out just how good these wines are - and even better when paired with Chef Ivan's creative masterpieces.

Château Margaux Wine Dinner

Château Margaux, arguably the most iconic wine in history with iconic fans like President Thomas Jefferson. Over the many years I have visited the Château, during En Premier or a more relaxed exploration, I have never had the honor to go shopping in their cellars to select the exact vintages for what will be one of the most memorable wine dinners in Arizona.  This will be a wine dinner never to forget, starting with a heralded wine from the 1980s as we move forward through time.

Hosted by Château Margaux's Deputy Managing Director, he will take us through a once in a lifetime experience, as we journey through time with one of the most recognizable, historic and important Chateaus in the world all expertly prepared by our masterful Chef to tantalize the senses. The wines are all ex-Château (very rare) which is critical when buying and drinking aged wines - not to mention, these wines have been left in their cellar untouched in perfect condition for decades!

Below is the lineup pending any unforeseen complications:

Château Margaux Pavillon Blanc 2018

Château Margaux Pavillon Rouge 2005

Château Margaux Pavillon Rouge 2009

Château Margaux 2000

Château Margaux 2009
