Trailing Tribal Healers

A healing journey through the Himalayas

My journey to the world of traditional healing began by associating with the project, 'Tribal and Folk Healing Practices' as a visual documenter. The six weeks traversing the North Eastern region of India, namely Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh, filled my mind and heart with immense awe for nature and the custodians preserving it.

Section 2: Healing in Practice

Witnessing the healers in action, treating patients and preparing their medicines, one could feel indigenous methods to be extremely effective and often the first treatment to many individuals who were unable to access modern medicinal institutions. Each patient revered the healer devoting their faith and trust wholly.

Section 3: People

The region was rich and diverse with people belonging to a plethora of clans and tribes. Hardworking, affectionate and happy best describes them. Their warmth and hospitality was humbling while their life stories inspiring. Each day was an adventure that was filled with embrace, shared passions and kindness of the lovely people.

Thank You
