But don’t worry - the SBDC is here to help. During this session, we will cover start-up steps, inspections, and registration, as well as ways to grow a commercial food business in your home - addressing the intricate differences based on the types of food made, how the food is sold, and where it is sold.

Attendees will also learn:

  • Types of products most often made in a registered home enterprise

  • Municipal issues to consider for home business

  • Potential impacts on family life

  • Initial lab tests needed

  • Ongoing tests and records

  • Current Good Manufacturing Practices

  • Marketing options that are available to home processed food

Some frequently asked questions will be addressed, to assist you in applying what you have learned to your own food business. Before the session closes, you will also learn how you can get individual assistance related to your unique product from the SBDC as you chart your food business progress.
