For me, it is personal preference as to why I enjoy my district. Every district has something different to offer. In my district we are fairly rural, yet very diverse. This is very similar to the school district I attended as a child, so I am able to easily relate to my students and their situations. I also enjoy a slower pace of life and the rural environment provides that for me.

Why I Teach

I teach because of the impact a teacher and coach can have on an individual's life. I watched as classmates, teammates and myself were molded by our teachers and coaches. Prior to my desire to be a teacher, I wanted to become a lawyer. After being blessed with several amazing teachers in my junior and senior years of high school and discovering the NC Teaching Fellows Scholarship, I decided I would much rather be a teacher than a lawyer. I have not ever regretted that decision. I love my job and building relationships with my students. The most rewarding part is watching them learn and grow as they accomplish things they once thought impossible.
