Biography

2019-20 | Continued to serve as one of the team's leaders through his final season of action...One of three Aggies who played in all 31 games...Averaged 2.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 20.4 minutes per game...Made 15 appearances in the starting lineup...Led the team in total assists (83)...Shot .337/.262/.720 on the year...Collected a season and career-high eight rebounds in an overtime victory over Colorado State in the Cayman Islands Classic (11/25)...Dished out a season and career-high nine assists in a WAC home victory over Chicago State (1/9)...Set season highs in points (seven), field goals made (three) and field goal attempts (six) in a WAC road win over Seattle U (1/18)...Drilled a season-high two three-pointers in a WAC home triumph against Grand Canyon (2/1)...Matched a career-best by coming up with four steals in the Aggies' WAC win over California Baptist (3/5)...Helped the Aggies capture their third-consecutive WAC regular season title while ending the season in a 19-game winning streak that ranked as the second-longest in the nation. 

2018-19: Helped guide NM State to its 22nd NCAA Tournament appearance, seeing action in all 35 games with five starts…helped lead the Aggies to their second-straight WAC regular-season title and third-straight WAC Tournament title as well as a program record 30-5 overall record…averaged 17 minutes on the floor during the conference tournament…had 8 points against UTEP (11/9) at home and scored in six-straight games after that…dished out seven dimes with 3 steals against New Mexico (12/4) at home…had a season-high 12 points against CSU Bakersfield (1/12) at home with eight assists and four rebounds…was second on the team in assists in conference play with 39.

2017-18: Helped guide NM State to its 21st NCAA Tournament appearance…led the Aggies to their third WAC regular-season title in four years with 12-2 finish as well as its eighth WAC Tournament title...joins brother Leroy “Shaq” Buchanan (Murray State) as one of two sets of brothers to play in the 2018 NCAA Tournament…saw action in all 34 games in his first season with NM State…opened his Aggie career with two points and two rebounds against East Central University (11/10)…made his first-career start  against Prairie View A&M (12/3) and finished with three points, three rebounds and two assists…posted a season-high 11 points on 3-of-5 shooting from deep with five boards against Eastern New Mexico (12/12) in his second-career start…pulled down a season-high six rebounds against CSU Bakersfield (2/8)…dished out a season-high eight assists in win over Chicago State in the quarterfinals of the WAC Tournament and finished with six points on top of his four rebounds.

2016-17 (Northeast Mississippi): Played alongside brother Leroy at Northeast Mississippi his freshman…helped the Tigers become the first northern division team to defeat a southern division team on both the men’s and women’s side at the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges State Tournament…scored in all 29 games for Northeast last season while averaging 12.7 points, 5.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds…led Tigers to the MACJC Tournament and NJCAA Region 23 Tournament championship game…opened his collegiate career with seven points and nine assists at home against Fort Benning Military Base (11/7)…collected his first double-double performance against Arkansas Baptist (11/30) with 10 points and 10 assists…followed up with 18 points against West Kentucky Community & Technical College (12/1)…tied his season-high in assists with 10 at Columbia State (12/13)…tallied his third 10 assist game at Northwest Mississippi (1/12)…recorded a season-high 26 points versus East Central (2/28), knocking down 10-of-15 shots…tied his season-high four games later against Mississippi Gulf Coast (3/9).
 
High School: Was a three-year letter winner at Madison Central High School where he played with older brother Leroy for two seasons…led MCHS to the Mississippi High School Athletic Association 6A State Semifinals as a sophomore…followed up with an appearance in the championship game his junior campaign and took runner-up honors…capped off his senior season with his third-straight trip to the MHSAA 6A State Tournament while averaging 12.0 points, 8.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals.
 
Personal: Son of Leroy Buchanan and Stephanie Latiker…has an older brother, Leroy, younger brother, Lamarion, and three younger sisters, Aaliyah Mosley, Allyson Latiker and Lariya Buchanan…brother Leroy played at Murray State…majoring in individualized studies.
