These two political parties are growing more extreme in their positions on important issues, and have become so polarized that they refuse to compromise, or even negotiate, with each other.

The New Jersey Moderate Party wants to reverse this polarization and the danger it poses to our country. Our goal is to bring both of the major political parties closer to the center. We want to restore civility and collaboration to the political process, and protect the principles of democracy upon which our country was founded.

To achieve this objective, the New Jersey Moderate Party will seek to identify, nominate, support and get elected candidates for public office who are “moderates.” Candidates who, among other qualities:

• Believe that extreme political viewpoints rarely achieve the best results for their constituents, but instead lead to polarization and prevent progress on important issues.

• Can work collegially and respectfully with people of different viewpoints, to achieve sensible solutions to the major issues facing our country.

• Put their constituents and their country ahead of party loyalty and the interests of donors.

• Strive to protect the basic foundations of our democracy.

• Seek to achieve sound fiscal, economic and immigration policies, not constrained by “party line” limitations.

• Make decisions based on proven facts and science, and not political rhetoric.

• Believe in an open and transparent government, that is equally accessible to all.

The New Jersey Moderate Party will provide a vehicle through which voters, whether Republicans, Democrats or Independents, can support candidates with these qualities. Candidates who bring water, not gasoline, to a fire. Candidates who will help fix our broken, dysfunctional political system.
