Death Investigation.

On April 22, 2024, at 4:45 p.m., the Richardson Police Department received a report of a deceased person in the 2800 block of N. Glenville Dr.

A witness observed a body lying in a creek in a heavily wooded area. Officers located the body in an advanced state of decomposition. Detectives, crime scene and the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office responded and will continue the investigation.

At this time, there is no indication of criminal activity. The deceased has not yet been identified.

The Richardson Police Department is now accepting applications for its upcoming Youth Citizen Police Academy.

A nationwide outage is affecting multiple cellphone providers.
Currently, the Richardson 911 emergency dispatch center is fully operational.
Some carriers are suggesting the use of Wi-Fi calling as an alternate method to make a call. Some may be able to utilize the SOS on your cell phones to contact 911. If in the event you have an emergency and cannot get through to our 911, our 911 center can also be reached at 972-744-4800.

Officer Jerry Childree is a 32 year veteran with the Richardson Police Department as well as a 30 year SWAT operator. Officer Childree brings a vast amount of knowledge and experience to the Community Relations Unit and will be assigned to the residents located in Southeast Richardson.

Police Activity
Officers have responded to a disturbance at 401 W. Campbell Rd. to assist Methodist Richardson Medical Center PD with a patient experiencing a mental health crisis. There is no danger to the public.

Aggravated Assault Suspect Arrested.

Richardson Police have arrested 49-year-old, Fredis Martinez Maldonado, who has been identified as the suspect in an assault that took place on December 17, 2023, in Richardson.

Patrol responded to a residence in the 900 block of Allegheny Dr. at 1:30 a.m. and contacted witnesses who reported a family member had been assaulted. Officers found the victim unconscious and paramedics transported her to the hospital.

Information obtained by patrol officers and detectives lead to the identification of Maldonado as the suspect. Maldonado and the victim were known to each other. He was located and arrested by patrol officers and is charged with Aggravated Assault Family Violence, a first-degree felony.

No further information is available at this time as the investigation continues.

Canyon Creek Area Graffiti Report.

On Sunday, December 10th, we received a call about graffiti observed below a pedestrian bridge in the 2500 block of West Prairie Creek Dr. Officers completed a report and arranged remediation by the Parks Department.
Patrol officers will be checking the area for any related activity, and we additionally ask for your help. If you observe any suspicious activity or witness graffiti in progress, please report it immediately. Your quick response can make a significant difference in preventing further issues.
Here are the steps to report suspicious activity or graffiti:
1. Contact Richardson Police:
• In case of an emergency, always dial 911.
• For non-emergency situations, please call 972-744-4800.
2. Provide Details:
• When reporting, try to provide as much information as possible, such as the location, date, and time you observed the activity.
• Provide a description of the individuals involved, if applicable.
3. Use Technology:
• If you have the capability, take photos or videos discreetly without putting yourself in harm's way.
4. Report Graffiti for Removal:
