HELENA, Mont. – For the third consecutive year, Governor Greg Gianforte today proclaimed Monday, March 20, 2023, as Montana Meat Day to support farmers and ranchers in the Treasure State who produce beef, pork, lamb, chicken, and other livestock products.

The governor first recognized the day in 2021 in response to a state observing “Meat Out Day” on March 20.

The governor’s proclamation may be viewed here and below.

WHEREAS, meat is part of a healthy and balanced diet, providing pure protein with no added junk; and

WHEREAS, meat today is produced more sustainably than ever, with carbon footprints reduced overall thanks to innovations in animal nutrition, genetics, and management; and

WHEREAS, Montana’s beef, pork, lamb, chicken, and other livestock products help drive our state’s number one industry and are produced ethically under the Big Sky, with many ranchers and farmers depending on that production for their livelihoods; and

WHEREAS, agricultural livestock production is facing increasing attacks from individuals and groups who would outlaw commonsense animal husbandry practices;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Greg Gianforte, Governor of Montana do hereby proclaim March 20, 2023,

MONTANA MEAT DAY

to encourage Montanans to support our producers by enjoying a meal with beef, pork, lamb, chicken, or other Montana livestock products.
