Addition and Elimination of the Third Kinect
We tried to increase the accuracy of the calibration by adding a third Kinect. After 8 hours of set-up, troubleshooting, and getting 3 Kinects calibrated together, I tried to run them live between IPI Recorder and IPI Mocap Studio when I got the error message that a 3 Kinect setup doesn’t work live. The documentation of the software did not specify this limitation, thus removing the possibility of realizing this restraint earlier. We made attempts to move forward with the 3 Kinects setup using another software. This time we used Shogun Live Link. After connecting and setting up the Kinects, we were met with dismal tracking performance. Our best bet at this point was to calibrate the two Kinect setup to the best of our ability.
