    Elisha Marshall, a native of Fayetteville, NC (Douglas Byrd High School), became NCCU’s first female National Champion when she won the NCAA Division II outdoor 100-meter dash in 1998.

    During her NCCU career from 1994-98, Marshall earned six All-America citations, specializing in the outdoor 100m and 200m dashes and the indoor 55m dash.

    As a junior in 1997, she finished two-1,000ths of a second shy of a national title in the 55-meter dash at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.

    As a senior, Marshall captured the elusive national title in the 100-meter dash during the 1998 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Edwardsville, Illinois, with a winning time of 11.81 seconds.

    She was also selected as the 1998 CIAA Most Outstanding Female Track Athlete after winning conference championships in the 100m and 200m dashes during the outdoor championship meet.
