CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Flooding hasn’t begun in the Cape Coral area just yet but the City of Cape Coral says they are prepared for the possible impacts of Hurricane Ian. The city and the Emergency Operations Center say they are monitoring the now hurricane before they take measures like putting up barricades. Those barricades, if needed, will block roads that are under water.  Officials say they are doing that because they cannot predict a road or an area that will flood.  So for right now It depends on how much rain we get.  However, city staff is also on standby to clear any catch basins that may get clogged. Areas like Trafalgar Parkway or like Hancock Bridge Parkway get flooded whenever there’s heavy rainfall. We know the City’s Public Works Department is working with an engineering firm to come up with three designs to alleviate the flooding, but there’s still no word on when the work would start.
