PALM CITY — A boil-water notice has been rescinded for Palm City after bacterial testing results were satisfactory Sunday afternoon, Martin County Utilities officials said.

The notice had been issued Wednesday after the utilities department reported that its crews were working to repair a water main break in Palm City. The pipe had been hit by a lightning strike, county spokeswoman Martha Ann Kneiss said.

By Saturday, most areas under the notice were cleared to continue using tap water with the exception of the following nine neighborhoods and sites: All of Martin Downs Country Club; Palm Cove south of Mapp Road; Hunters Club; Stratford Downs; Woodside; River Oaks; Holy Redeemer Catholic Church; Fox Run; and Hide Away Isles.

Those nine had tested positive for bacteria Friday, engendering more tests and sampling, Kneiss said. In order to rescind the boil-water notice, two consecutive samples were required to show no contamination.

Kneiss had previously told TCPalm that the notice would last 48 hours.
