Student Wellness Advisory Committee

This is an image of a poster advertising a student wellness committee and below that are images of students participating in a meeting, sitting around as a group talking with each other.
Student Service Opportunity!
We are seeing our young people—of all ages, identities, and background, in our City and nationwide—rise to advocate for meaningful change to policies and practices that impact them the most. The Student Wellness Advisory Committee will convene students who want to come together as a community to forge a brighter future—one that includes raising awareness of and expectations for equitable health and wellness policies and practices in schools.
Know a student with untapped potential, a leader in the making, or an influencer or advocate interested in health and wellness who is in grades 9-12?
Encourage them to apply for the 2020-2021 Student Wellness Advisory Committee, an advisory committee to the Office of School Wellness Programs (opens in new window). Committee members:

  • commit to participating for the 2020-2021 school year;
  • engage in 1-2 virtual Committee or subcommittee meetings per month centered around health leadership advocacy and skills;
  • build relationships with other high school students;
  • and share ideas and recommendations on ways to advance health education, PE, and wellness programs in New York City schools.

Interested students can complete the 2020-2021 Student Wellness Advisory Committee Application (opens in new window). Applications will be accepted through December 30, 2020.
