Bright Futures High School Workforce AmeriCorps VISTA Member

The Bright Futures Scholarship program helps to build a strong foundation for a stable economy through nurturing and supporting our young generations with funding for post-secondary training opportunities. One of the top priorities for the Bright Futures program is workforce development. Bright Futures believes that developing relationships with strategic partners will create an environment where significant numbers of Weld County high school graduates, GED recipients, and honorably discharged veterans can be trained to work in targeted industries. This county-wide workforce initiative provides a roadmap that connects high schools, post-secondary institutions, and local business partners in alignment towards future economic success. When you hear the word provider, think of Weld County. Since its inception, Weld County has been described as an agricultural-based area filled with hard-working citizens who embrace diversity and foster a family atmosphere. Historically the Weld County area has been home to immigrant populations. The rich diversity of Weld County helps to make the area an exciting and stimulating environment to live. The area has spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains, beautiful grasslands, and rich farmland property. While Bright Futures serves all of Weld County, the High School Workforce Development VISTA will work from the Bright Futures office in Downtown Greeley. Recently named as the eighth most dynamic metropolitan area in the nation, Greeley is about an hour drive from Denver to the south and Rocky Mountain National Park to the west. Greeley is home to both a university and a community college, the Greeley Stampede Rodeo, music festivals and downtown Friday festivities, neighborhood movie nights, the Greeley Arts Picnic, brew pubs and distilleries, a weekly farmer’s market, and a vibrant art district. See Greeley Remarkable for more fun facts about this vibrant city!
