LIHEAP Spring Subsidy Program (the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program). This program begins on April 16, 2024 and ends on May 31, 2024 or until funds are depleted.

You DO NOT NEED a disconnect notice for this program.   This is subsidy only which means a one time payment on your electric bill.    Benefit amounts are determined based on housing status, income and household size.

All appointments are in person and you will need to sign the application. If all documentation is not received at the time of the appointment, you may need to reschedule. 

List of Docs to Provide

Here's the list of required documentation to bring with you to your appointment. We will need all required documents to complete your application. If you do not have the proper documentation, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment. If you miss your appointment time, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment.

  • Social Security card(s) or official documentation with social security numbers (or Permanence Residence/Green Card) for everyone living in the household.
  • Most current electric bill.   
  • Proof of household income from the previous month including these examples:
    • All check stubs for the previous month that show name, dates and gross income
    • OR, If you receive Social Security or Disability benefits, you MUST provide your current Social Security/SSI Award Letter.  In January, you would bring your 2023 Award Letter.  In February, you would bring your 2024 Award Letter.  
    • Zero Income can be verified with the following forms: Our Agency Zero Income Form found at www.mpcaa.org on the low income page under LIHEAP. A Zero Income Form must be completed by someone that does NOT live in your household and is NOT related to you. You may also pick up a Zero Income Form at any of our offices.
    • OR, Unemployment Summary of Benefits .
  • Examples of items which cannot be accepted are previous LIHEAP applications, bank statements, copies of benefit checks, and 1099 tax forms. We cannot accept Medical Coverage Letters as proof of other income.
