Seal and cover (chip seal) and temporary striping activities have concluded. Sign installation and general site clean-up will take place in the coming week. Drivers can expect minimal traffic impacts while crews are present on roadway shoulders.

Final roadway striping will occur after the chip seal has cured for 30 days.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, seal and cover (chip seal) activities on West Broadway have been delayed. Chip seal operations are now anticipated to begin Tuesday, June 6 and continue through Thursday, June 8.

Drivers can expect single-lane closures and flaggers through the work zone. Both east and westbound I 90 on-ramps and the left-turn lane from the I 90 off-ramp will be temporarily closed. There will be no I 90 access from northbound Highway 93 (US 93) for a portion of construction. Crews will be on-site between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

June 5-9, 2023

LHC Inc. crews have completed surface grinding operations. Seal and cover (chip seal) activities will begin Sunday, June 4 and continue through Tuesday, June 6. Crews will be onsite between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. While chip seal operations are underway, drivers can expect reduced speeds and single-lane closures.

Following chip seal activities, temporary roadway striping will occur. Minimal traffic impacts are anticipated while the roadway stripes and markings are added.

A 30-day cure period is necessary before final epoxy striping can occur. Drivers can expect all traffic control measures to be removed during this cure period.

Final path preservation activities on the Northside Greenway Trail will take place in the coming week. Crack seal operations are scheduled for Monday, June 5 and fog sealing is anticipated to begin mid-week. The trail will be closed while these activities are conducted and is expected to reopen late Friday, June 9.

May 29-June 2, 2023

Work will pause Monday, May 29, in observance of Memorial Day.

Beginning Tuesday, LHC Inc. crews will conduct bump grinding and smoothing operations throughout the work zone. General clean-up activities will also take place. Seal and cover (chip seal) operations are anticipated to begin on June 2.

Grinding operations will occur Tuesday night between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. All other construction will occur on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Drivers can expect reduced speeds and single-lane closures while construction is underway.

Path preservation work on the Northside Greenway Trail will pause for a short period between the completion of paving activities and the start of crack and fog sealing. Crack and fog seal is used seal small cracks in the asphalt and reestablish pavement flexibility. The trail has been reopened for public use until this final work phase of work begins. Crack sealing will begin on June 5. Following a 3-day cure the contractor will fog seal the path. The trail will be closed for approximately five days while this work is completed.

Milling and paving work is wrapping up. This work is anticipated to be completed early next week. After paving operations, crews will begin bump grinding. This process includes grinding rough or uneven areas to ensure a smooth driving surface. Some repair work will also occur on the eastbound lanes under the railroad overpass.

Sign and barrier rail installation on the Interstate 90 (I 90) overpass is also anticipated to be underway by the end of the coming week.

Active construction will occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. While construction is underway, drivers can expect reduced speeds and single-lane closures.

Path preservation work on the Northside Greenway Trail is also concluding. Work was briefly delayed while crews waited for root treatment to become available but has since resumed. This portion of the project is anticipated to be completed early next week. A detour to Defoe Street and Worden Avenue is in place.

Did you know that pavement preservation projects like this one save millions of taxpayer dollars? “Timely maintenance is key to getting the maximum life from pavement. For every dollar not spent on timely preventative maintenance, $4 to $8 will be needed for complete reconstruction a few years later.” (Pavement Interactive)

Weather conditions have caused some delays. To maximize work during warmer temperatures, both milling and paving operations will be moved to daytime hours. No nightwork is anticipated in the coming weeks.

Path preservation work on the Northside Greenway Trail is also underway. Crews are removing protruding tree roots and deteriorating pavement. Once completed, the path will be patched. The trail is closed during construction. A detour to Defoe Street and Worden Avenue is in place.

Crews have begun initial work on West Broadway. Curb and gutter have been removed, and asphalt cutting is underway. Concrete work to replace curb and gutter may continue into the coming week.

Milling and paving operations will begin next week and will be conducted during nighttime hours. Night work will be conducted Sunday night through Thursday night. Traffic control will be in place around 6:30 p.m. and will be removed each morning around 7 a.m.

Crews will mill and pave sections on West Broadway between Roller Coaster Road and the Interstate 90 (I 90) overpass. While construction is underway, drivers can expect reduced speeds and single-lane closures.

Signal work at Mary Jane Boulevard is wrapping up. Additional lighting will be added near the intersection of Flynn Lane and Broadway as materials become available.
