Good afternoon,

It might be hard to believe that it's already February! We have several upcoming events and deadlines. Please help us in spreading the word of upcoming events and deadlines in the URFM office.

In this newsletter:
Erickson Discovery Grant

If you have any students who are interested in conducting their own independent research project, encourage them to apply for the Erickson Discovery Grant. This grant is designed to provide summer funding to start, continue, or finish an independent project. An independent project can be on any topic but should be one that is their idea or one where they are taking the lead. They should not be proposing to spend their summer primarily assisting a graduate student or faculty member in completing their project.

The University Libraries has created this worksheet to help them in starting to identify potential research questions and mapping out their project.

The application for 2023 Erickson Discovery Grants is open and will close February 12, 2023.

Spark Program Applications Open

Do you have any first- or second-year students who are interested in learning more about fellowships? If so, please encourage them to apply to the Spark Program. We have both in-person and remote programs this semester. Topics include learning about application components like personal statements and research proposals. We also feature faculty and staff panels. This semester, we will run one in-person program and one remote program. Students from all campuses are encouraged to apply.

*Note that this is not a research program.
