Join us for "Read Beyond the Beaten Path," our annual Summer Reading program for all ages! Summer Reading  launches on June 1 and goes through August 31, 2022. Sign up for Beanstack to track your reading, or stop in and pick up a printed reading log.

Summer is a great time to read what you like, learn new things, and have fun! Find events for all ages throughout the summer on our events calendar. Join us on June 24 for our Summer Reading Festival, an after-hours kickoff event with games, crafts, prizes and more. Held at Cedar Mill Library from 6-8pm.

Our Parent Information Series has wrapped up, but several of the presentations were recorded and are now available for viewing. We are thankful for the expertise and practical info the presenters offered our community this spring!

Read to the Dogs

Read to the Dogs allows school-age children who are beginning or struggling readers to develop their reading skills in a relaxed, non-judgmental environment. During a virtual 15 minute session, your child has an opportunity to practice reading aloud to a trained therapy dog.

This program has virtual openings on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:00pm. Each session is 15 minutes, limited to 1 session/week.

Grab & Go Crafts

Pick up craft supplies at either library. Grab and Go Crafts are available on a first come, first served basis while supplies last. 1 per child, please.

June 3: Water Color Craft - recommended for ages 3+
June 17: Nature Wands - recommended for ages 5+
July 1: Paper Campfire Craft - recommended for ages 3+
July 15: Paper Weaving - recommended for ages 5+
August 5: Nature Journals - recommended for ages 5+
August 19: Oregon Museum of Natural History craft - recommended for ages 5+

 

Public library cards are available for all Beaverton School District students. If your student does not already have a public library card with Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS) please contact us.

Decodable Books and Games for Beginning Readers
Decodable books allow readers to decode words using the principle of phonics (the relationship between letters and the sounds they make). Decodables are helpful to anyone learning to read, but are essential for teaching readers with dyslexia.
