On Tuesday, Feb. 22, the Berkeley City Council unanimously adopted the Southside Complete Streets Project Conceptual Designs, giving the OK for staff to proceed with the detailed engineering design for the project.

Council also adopted the Supplemental referral [PDF] from Councilmember Rigel Robinson to "develop a community process to explore limits on private automobiles on Telegraph Avenue and make recommendations".

City staff and design consultants will continue to engage with merchants, property owners, and other members of the Berkeley community in developing detailed engineering designs during 2022. City staff's recommendation for each of the project streets was based on both public input and a technical analysis of design alternatives.

A summary of the public engagement process, as well as a technical analysis memo and supporting appendices have been posted to the project website.

Thank you again, to everyone for staying engaged in this project to improve the safety and vibrancy of Southside!
