MAIP Update Webinar Recap

Equity, economic mobility, and apprenticeship have been recurring topics of discussion for our MAIP webinar series this year. Today’s MAIP webinar provided an exciting convergence of these topics with its overview of CareerReady ATL. Earlier in 2020, the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation and United Way of Greater Atlanta/Atlanta CareerRise began working on the CareerReady ATL project, strategic planning for Youth Apprenticeship (YA) system.

Building off a robust continuum of youth work-based learning and adult workforce development opportunities, CareerReady ATL seeks, among other goals, to:

  • Develop a strategy to scale Youth Apprenticeship in the Greater Atlanta region as a model for Georgia with an intentional focus on awareness, enrollment, and completion for students of color
  • Build a coalition of cross-sector leaders to support the work of scaling and sustaining Youth Apprenticeship
  • Increase access to equitable education and economic opportunities that support family wage employment for low-income students and students of color, and support inclusive economic growth and better economic mobility for the Greater Atlanta region

Presenters, including Michele Jacobs of United Way of Greater Atlanta, provided an overview of the work to date, solicited feedback from webinar participants, and encouraged regional stakeholders to identify their role in this developing strategy. For more information about CareerReady ATL, email Michele and for more information about youth apprenticeships, check out the "Resources and Toolkit" section below.

In addition to the presentation, the webinar featured information about the next steps with MAIP and the Roadmap Teams (MAIP Happenings below) and introductions of new MAIP Partners. Audience questions will continue to be addressed in the MAIP LinkedIn Group  through a shared discussion. If you're not already in the group, email MAIP for an invitation and or visit the MAIP LinkedIn Group and request an invitation to participate in the discussion.
