FAQs
Will patrons be required to wear masks in Overture Center?

As of August 15, 2022, masks will be encouraged but optional for all 22/23 MSO performances in Overture Hall.

Are vaccinations required to enter Overture Center?

Overture Center for the Arts is no longer requiring proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test to enter the building. Visit overture.org/health for more information.

Will social distancing be required within the theater?

No, the MSO is not employing social distancing within the theater.

What steps has Overture taken to reduce the spread of COVID-19?

Overture Center has moved to touchless experiences wherever possible to help reduce the amount of physical contact and to provide the best contactless service for guests and staff:

  • Instituted advanced cleaning and sanitization procedures
  • Installed new touchless walkthrough security scanners to create an efficient and seamless entry with no bag checks.
  • Implemented touchless ticket scanning protocol.
  • Installed touchless fixtures in all restrooms.
  • Placed touchless hand sanitizer dispenser stations throughout the lobbies, galleries and restrooms.
  • Placed touchless trash cans in all the public areas.
  • Installed consumer-facing credit card terminals wherever possible.
Does the air handling system at Overture Center meet CDC guidelines?

Yes! Overture Center updated its dual filtration HVAC system with improved particulate filtration, increased outside air volumes and increased air handling hours of operation.

Will I have to submit to a bag/coat search at Overture Center like in the past?

Overture Center will be utilizing a new walk-thorough security screening technology that will be required to move through on arrival. This should eliminate lines and allow foot traffic to quickly flow into the spaces. You may be asked to submit to additional screening if any prohibited items are detected.

Will concessions be available at MSO concerts?

Yes. As of this season, drinks are allowed inside Overture Hall during all Madison Symphony Orchestra concerts. Refreshments may be purchased at bars and concession stands located around the Overture Hall lobby before each concert and during intermission. Please enjoy food in the lobby and unwrap any candy or cough drops before the performance begins. Thank you!

Will I receive a refund if a concert is canceled?

Yes! We guarantee a refund for tickets to any Madison Symphony Orchestra or Overture Concert Organ concert that cannot be performed for any reason. You will also have the opportunity to donate the value of your tickets back to the Symphony.
