When is the due date for the Spring 2024 Semester return?

Students who are not enrolled in Summer 2024 classes are required to return their equipment by May 24, 2024.

You can return your loan equipment at:

    • Truax main campus at the Welcome Center (room A1000, front of the building) during their operating hours: Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
    • Any of our other campuses during their front desk operating hours
    • Or requesting a Return Shipping for your loan equipment, this service has an associated fee of $17

When you return your device(s), please make sure to include any power cords or other peripherals that came with it.

Can I use my borrowed equipment for the next semester?

Yes, you can use your borrowed equipment for the next semester. If you are enrolled in classes for the Summer 2024 term by the Spring Semester deadline (May 24th, 2024), your device will be automatically renewed and can be used until the Summer Semester due date, which is August 23rd, 2024.

Enrolling in Classes After the Due Date

If you are enrolling for classes after the due date, please reach out to Technology Access at technologyaccess@madisoncollege.edu or 608.246.6949 to ensure we do not terminate your service.

    If You Dropped Your Classes

If you dropped your classes, your equipment is due 14 days after the drop date. If you do not return in that timeframe, your student account will be charged the replacement cost of the device.

Returning Your Equipment After the Return Date

If you are returning your equipment after missing the return date, the college may take the device(s) back depending on how late the return is. Please contact the Technology Access Program at technologyaccess@madisoncollege.edu or 608.246.6949 if you are unsure if you can return.

For late returns, your account will be charged a replacement cost fee for each of the devices you did not return by the due date.

According to current Madison College policies, unpaid charges will be subject to collection procedures. If a student pays the replacement fee for overdue equipment, the equipment remains the property of Madison College. Presently, we waive charges upon the return of equipment. However, we are considering discontinuing this practice for significantly overdue equipment.

We do not sell students equipment they have borrowed. Overdue laptops will be wiped out remotely and effectively unusable if not returned to Madison College.

  • Broken or Stolen Equipment

    Broken Equipment Guidelines

When returning your equipment, please provide information on how the device became broken. Our staff will evaluate the damage and decide what the appropriate charge will be for it. You will be notified of what the charge is via your student email once that evaluation is complete.

Most laptop charges are covered under warranty which is a $60 charge. For any damage outside of our warranty, the device will need to be replaced so the cost would be the replacement price, which ranges between $600-$2,050.

Hotspots do not have a warranty and the device charge is the replacement price, which is $200.

If you find damage after inspecting your equipment, you have a 14-day window from check out to return the device to ensure you will not be charged for the damage.

If you lost or broke the charging cable to your device, please reach out to the Help Desk at helpdesk@madisoncollege.edu or 608.246.6666 and let them know what happened.

Once they record the details, the Help Desk staff at the Truax Campus will give you a new charging cable for your device and charge your account appropriately.

Laptop chargers range from $50-$150, depending on the model. Hotspot charging cables are $10 and the wall bricks are $25.

    Stolen Equipment Guidelines

If your device was stolen, please contact Madison College immediately.

If the device was stolen on Madison College property, you should contact Campus Safety to receive a report.

If the device was stolen outside of Madison College, you should contact the local authorities to receive a police report. We will work on turning off the device so nobody can use it while you obtain the report.

Once the report is obtained, please send it to technologyaccess@madisoncollege.edu. When we have the report on file, you will not be held financially responsible for the device.

  • Missing Software

If you do not see the software you need on your loaned laptop, please go into the Company Portal on your laptop and see if it is available to download.

If it is not, reach out to the Help Desk at helpdesk@madisoncollege.edu or 608.246.6666 with the specific software information and they can assist you with getting it on your laptop.
