School closings in Central NY: Sub-zero windchills cause districts to close, Friday Feb. 3

Central New York schools started making closing announcements on Thursday afternoon and evening due to the frigid air and snow that was forecast to hit the region.

We updated and will continue to update the list of school closings today.

The low is forecast to hit 5 degrees at 10 a.m. Friday with a wind chill of -15 degrees, according to the National Weather Forecast for Syracuse. Some areas of Central New York will see the temperatures drop even lower.

Snow is also expected to hit the region, with 3 inches forecast for Onondaga County and a bit more north of Syracuse. Winds are expected to be blustery, with gusts reaching nearly 40 mph at times.
