Syracuse, N.Y. — We suffered through The Great Chicken Wing Drought of 2021, but we made it. Gone are those dark days of rushing to the bar before happy hour so we could snag a dozen deep-fried wings. If we were late, we settled for loaded potato skins ... or worse yet ... boneless wings.
It all started back in early 2020 with a massive supply shortfall during the Covid-19 shutdown. The wholesale prices for wings nearly tripled to $165 for a 40-pound case. (A case holds between 240 and 260 uncooked chicken wings.) Restaurants and bars raised their prices to make up the difference.
