The Cincinnati Bengals outplayed and outcoached the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Cincinnati cruised to a 27-10 win on their way to their second straight AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Following the win, you would think that Bengals players would be looking ahead, but at least one player decided to take some shots at various Bills players on social media.

Cornerback Eli Apple took to Twitter on Monday night to mock Damar Hamlin, Stefon Diggs and Josh Allen.

Apple quote tweeted a Stefon Diggs tweet about not being okay with how the team lost on Sunday. In the tweet, Apple wrote, “Cancun on 3″ with the hand heart emoji.

Three, of course, represents the number that Damar Hamlin wore this season for Buffalo and the hand heart emoji is the symbol he is known for making as a member of the Bills. Hamlin went into cardiac arrest at Paycor Stadium late in the regular season in a matchup against the Bengals. He’s improved significantly since that point, even attending the divisional round matchup, but it was a low-blow nonetheless as the safety almost lost his life in the regular season matchup against Cincinnati.

Apple continued his act on social media by showing the video of Stefon Diggs yelling in the direction of Josh Allen and Joe Brady during Sunday’s loss. In a quote tweet, Apple wrote, “Someone get them in couples therapy. I’ll pay on God.”

While Apple was enjoying himself on social media, it’s clear that someone in the Bengals organization did not. The cornerback backpedaled on his initial tweet that featured the hand heart emoji and Cancun on 3 saying he would never make light of Hamlin’s situation.

“All love thoughts prayers and concerns to [Damar Hamlin] as he continues to recover from that tragic incident,” Apple tweeted. “Never would I make light of that scary unfortunate scene. This game is truly a dangerous risk to our bodies mind and spirit. Nothing but love to all my football brothers.”

Apple has bounced around the league in his career. After being the 10th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the New York Giants traded the cornerback to the New Orleans Saints for a fourth and seventh round pick in 2018. Apple wore his welcome out quickly in New York with safety Landon Collins calling the cornerback a “cancer” in the locker room in 2017.

Subpar play in New Orleans led to the Saints declining Apple’s fifth year option. He would sign with the Carolina Panthers in 2020, but was released by the team in October that season. Apple would finally sign with the Bengals in 2021. The cornerback is set to be a free agent at the end of the season and could be looking to sign with his fifth NFL team in 2023.
