Syracuse, N.Y. — The NCAA transfer portal officially opened to an influx of nearly 1,000 players Monday according to ESPN.
Syracuse football offensive lineman Tyler Magnuson was one of them. The redshirt sophomore announced he’d be leaving the program via Twitter.
Magnuson redshirted in 2021 and did not appear in any games in 2022 for the Orange. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
Magnuson was the No. 9 player in Minnesota for his recruiting class (2021) according to 247Sports. He was an AP All-State first team selection and an All-Conference selection. In 2019, he helped Wayzata High School to a 6A Minnesota state championship.
Syracuse has now lost five total players to the transfer portal this offseason. The portal officially opened Monday and will remain open through Jan. 19.
Wide receivers Dom Foster, Anthony Queeley and Courtney Jackson and defensive lineman Josh Hough have all departed the SU program.
