Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse men’s soccer will host Vermont in the NCAA quarterfinals on Saturday with a trip to the College Cup at stake.

The game is set for 2 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium. SU is seeking its first national championship in men’s soccer.

The Orange is hosting an NCAA quarterfinal match for just the second time. A win would advance it to the national semifinals for the first time since 2015.

Syracuse is the highest seed remaining in the NCAA tournament after top-seeded Kentucky lost to Pittsburgh, 2-1 in the third round.

Syracuse and Vermont played to a 1-1 draw back on Sept. 2.

Tickets for the game start at $10 for the general public and $5 for senior citizens and youth ages 18 and under. Gates open at 1 p.m.

The Orange advanced to the quarterfinal round on a late goal from sophomore forward Giona Leibold to propel it past Cornell, 1-0.

The Orange outshot the Big Red, 16-9, as the Syracuse defense kept its 11th clean sheet of the season. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Russell Shealy finished with two saves and assisted Leibold on the winning goal.

The Orange is back in the NCAA quarterfinals for the first time since 2015, when Syracuse beat Boston College, 1-0. A 79th-minute goal from Ben Polk sent SU to the College Cup for the first time in program history.
